Garrya Mu Cang Chai by Banyan Group opened in April 2025 in Pú Nhu village, about 2 km from Mâm Xôi hill: location, size, design and tips for your visit.

Garrya Mu Cang Chai: Resort Amid La Pan Tan Rice Terraces

Until recently, places to stay in Mù Cang Chải were mostly guesthouses in town and homestays in the villages. Garrya Mù Cang Chải is an international-brand resort set right among the rice terraces of La Pán Tẩn. On Mebayluon's check-in map, it is stop 12.

Where Garrya Mù Cang Chải is

The resort lies in Pú Nhu bản (village), about 160 m off National Road 32 (QL32), at around 1,100 m. On the map it sits at Km 38.3 counting from Le Champ Tú Lệ: just over 2 km past the Mâm Xôi hill turn-off, with more than 9 km still to go to Mù Cang Chải town. From Ngã Ba Kim it is nearly 8 km.

Size and design

Garrya is a Banyan Group brand, and Mù Cang Chải is its first property in Vietnam. According to the group's announcement at the opening on 29 April 2025, the resort covers 6.6 ha with 110 rooms, suites and villas. The design is minimalist, with bamboo details and Hmong (Mông) brocade patterns; the paths are planted with native species, including tớ dày (wild Himalayan cherry), which turns the slopes of Mù Cang Chải pink around the end of the year.

For facilities, the press release lists an all-day restaurant, a charcoal-grill restaurant with an open kitchen, and a spa with an herbal steam room, an infrared sauna and a hot pool. We are only reporting the published information; for room types, prices and which services are currently open, check the resort's own booking channels.

Garrya is a third-party business. Mebayluon has no partnership with it and does not take bookings on its behalf; we put it on the map because its location is useful when planning your trip.

Why this location stands out

Its biggest advantage is being close to Mâm Xôi. Staying in town, you have to drive nearly 12 km in the dark to catch the early light on the hill; staying in La Pán Tẩn, that shrinks to just over 2 km of highway plus the side road. Two quieter spots, little Mâm Xôi and the Dinosaur Spine (Sống Lưng Khủng Long), are also nearby, each up its own side road.

The downside is that it is far from places to eat. There is no strip of restaurants around the resort as there is in town, so most meals will be on site, or you'll need to drive.

When to stay

The two most beautiful seasons for the terraces here are the water-pouring season (when the terraces are flooded for planting) in May–June and the golden season from mid-September to early October; that is also when rooms across the whole area are hardest to get, so book early. Winter in Mù Cang Chải is cold, misty and quiet, ideal if you like peace; tớ dày blossom season usually falls around late December to early January.

Practical tips

  • Non-guests wishing to use the restaurant or café should get in touch first.
  • The turn-off from the highway is only a short drive; cars can get in.
  • If you plan an early start for Mâm Xôi, ask reception about transport the evening before; in peak season the xe ôm (motorbike taxi) riders at the foot of the hill get booked up very early.

Combine it with a paragliding flight

From Garrya back to the Khau Phạ Pass paragliding take-off is 23 km, including the climb from Ngã Ba Kim up to the top of the pass. Leave the resort at least an hour before your flight appointment, and check the take-off webcam before setting off: the weather can differ on either side of the pass, still misty on one side while the other is already sunny.
