From the majestic mountains of the Northwest, famous valleys in Sapa, Mu Cang Chai to flying spots along the Central Coast, he has spent many years constantly exploring his own limits and pursuing his passion of conquering the sky. Today, as a pilot of Mebayluon Paragliding, Vu Chien Thang not only performs sport flights, long-distance flights or conquers high altitudes, but also accompanies thousands of tourists in memorable paragliding experiences in Hanoi, Sapa and Mu Cang Chai.
🛫 Becoming a paraglider pilot
Paragliding is a sport that requires a combination of control skills, the ability to read the weather, understand the terrain and experience in handling real-life situations. To be able to fly safely and effectively, a pilot must undergo many years of practice and thousands of accumulated hours in the air. For Vu Chien Thang, that journey began with a passion for exploring nature and a desire to see the world from a different perspective. Over time, passion gradually becomes a profession. Each flight is not only an opportunity to practice skills but also a journey to explore new lands of Vietnam from the air.
🏅 Achievements in the air
During his flying career, Vu Chien Thang marked many notable achievements. The stand-out is his 2019 endurance flight at Linh Truong (Thanh Hoa): 8 hours 10 minutes in the air without landing — the longest flight ever flown at that site. Staying up that long means working lift continuously through the day and managing the flight at a high level. Not stopping there, he also repeatedly conquered altitudes up to 3,500 meters, where meteorological and thermodynamic conditions become much more complicated than normal flights. In Tam Duong (Lai Chau), he conducted Cross Country flights over 80 km long, taking advantage of the heat currents of the Northwest mountains to move through many different valleys and mountain ranges. This is considered one of the most technical and challenging events of paragliding.

Beyond his competition record, Vu Chien Thang is known as one of the pilots who regularly travels to fly and assess sites around the country — from the Thoi Loi volcano on Ly Son island to Tam Duong, Mu Cang Chai, Sapa and Vien Nam Peak. Those trips have helped widen the range of flying available to pilots and visitors in Vietnam.
