Noi Bai Airport is about 250–300km from Mu Cang Chai, a 5–6 hour trip. You have two ways to do it: catch a coach (cheapest, 250,000–400,000 VND) or go direct by limousine van, shared car or taxi (from 600,000 VND).

⚠️ First thing to know: most coaches do not enter the airport
Coaches to Mu Cang Chai run along the national highway and do not enter the airport terminal. They stop to pick up passengers at Kim Anh junction, just 2–3km from the terminal.

Return coaches do not enter the terminal either — they drop you around Kim Anh junction on the highway, then you take a taxi or Grab for the last 2–3km to the airport (10 minutes, 50,000–100,000 VND, same as outbound).
⏰ Allow for this when booking your flight. Coaches on mountain roads are often 30–60 minutes late.

🔀 The fastest way if you land during the day: change in Yen Bai City
Most guides skip this option, but if your plane lands at Noi Bai during the day it is usually the fastest and most flexible: instead of waiting for a direct coach, take a limousine van to Yen Bai City first, then catch a provincial coach Yen Bai → Tu Le → Mu Cang Chai.
Why it is faster: the limousines run every hour on the expressway, so you are not tied to one company's timetable. The trade-off is that you must time your connection with the provincial coach at the Yen Bai end — there are only 6 departures a day.

⚠️ There is no fixed counter in the terminal — when booking, state clearly that you are boarding/alighting at Noi Bai Airport so the call centre sends the van to the right place.
Leg 2 — Yen Bai City → Tu Le → paragliding site → Mu Cang Chai
From Yen Bai City it is about 3 hours to Tu Le and about 4 hours to Mu Cang Chai. All the coaches below pass Ban Lim junction — ask the driver to drop you there if you are going flying.

Connecting the two legs
🔻 Outbound — Noi Bai to the flying site
Limousine 8:00 from Noi Bai → Yen Bai City ~9:30 → provincial coach 10:30 (Quang Huy) → paragliding site ~13:30.
Or limousine 10:00 → Yen Bai ~11:30 → coach 12:00 (Chien Thanh / Manh Phuong) → flying site ~15:00.
Or limousine 13:00 → Yen Bai ~14:30 → coach 15:00 (Tuan Long) → flying site ~18:00.
If you land very early: limousine 6:00 → Yen Bai ~7:30 → wait at the office → coach 9:30 (Nam Phong) → flying site ~12:30.
🔺 Return — flying site to Noi Bai
Leave the flying site ~8:00 (Chien Thanh / Manh Phuong coaches leave Mu Cang Chai at 6:30) → Yen Bai City ~11:00 → limousine 11:00 or 12:00 → Noi Bai around 12:30 – 13:30.
To get back even earlier, take a night coach through Tu Le before dawn, reach Yen Bai City around 6:00 and hop straight onto the 6:00 limousine — at Noi Bai by 7:30 – 8:00, in time even for a morning flight.
⚠️ This connection only works if you travel by day and fix your times in advance. The last provincial coach of the day leaves Yen Bai City at 15:00 — miss it and you will have to stay the night in Yen Bai. Call the provincial coach company the day before, tell them when you will reach Yen Bai City and ask to be picked up at the X.E Viet Nam office, then call again to confirm on the morning of departure.
🪂 Leg 3 — Where to get off?
If you are going paragliding: get off at Ban Lim junction — do not ride all the way to Mu Cang Chai town. The Khau Pha pass paragliding area is here, 5km from Tu Le and 50km from Mu Cang Chai town — that is, before the town. Overshooting and coming back costs you nearly 3 hours there and back.

A guest lands at Noi Bai on an evening flight and takes the night coach straight to the flying site:
19:30 — Leave the International Terminal, take a taxi or Grab from Pillar 10 for the 2–3km to Kim Anh junction (~10 minutes, 50,000–100,000 VND)
20:00 – 20:10 — Board the Mai Trang coach at Kim Anh junction (300,000 VND)
~01:00 — Arrive at Ban Lim junction; Mr Mac picks you up and drives you to the homestay
Wake up the next morning and you are right at the foot of the flying site.
⚠️ A few things to remember
Night coaches drop passengers at Ban Lim junction between midnight and dawn, when the pass road is dark and empty — message the coach company and your pickup person in advance.
Book early, especially in the ripe-rice season (September–October) and during festivals, as coaches sell out quickly.
Fares are indicative and change with the season. Reconfirm departure times before your travel day.
When booking, say clearly that you board at Kim Anh junction and get off at Ban Lim junction so the company notes it correctly.
