Paragliding on the Ha Giang Loop: Fly Over Quan Ba on Day 1

The Ha Giang Loop is the most famous motorbike road trip in Vietnam: three to four days of mountain passes, limestone peaks and Hmong villages along the Chinese border. Most riders see it from the saddle. From 15 October 2026 you can also see it from the air — Mebayluon runs a paragliding site at Quan Ba, the first big stop on the loop.

Where Quan Ba sits on the loop

Leave Ha Giang city heading north and the road climbs to Quan Ba Heaven's Gate at around Km 45. Below the pass lies the Quan Ba valley with the Twin Mountains (Nui Doi) standing in the rice fields. That is where we fly — about 1 hour 15 minutes from the city, so it fits neatly into the morning of Day 1.

Two ways to fly

Tandem paragliding (PG) — from 2,290,000 VND

  • Fly with a licensed tandem pilot, 10–15 minutes depending on the wind
  • Take off from the mountainside at about 1,000 m and land in the Quan Ba valley
  • Round-trip pickup within the Quan Ba area is included

Powered paragliding (PPG) — from 2,490,000 VND

  • Basic package: 15 minutes
  • Advanced package: 25 minutes, cloud-hunting at sunrise or sunset — 3,390,000 VND
  • Takes off from the valley floor and climbs high over the plateau, less dependent on wind

Every ticket includes GoPro photos and video, insurance, drinking water and a certificate. A drone video or 360° camera can be added for 400,000 VND each, or 700,000 VND for both.

How to fit it into your loop

  • Riding yourself or with an easy rider: leave Ha Giang city around 7:00, fly around 9:00–11:00, continue to Yen Minh after lunch.
  • Staying overnight in Quan Ba (Tam Son): book the 25-minute PPG flight at sunrise, when cloud still fills the small valleys.
  • Coming by car from the city: we can pick you up — 500,000 VND per 4-seat car each way (about 45 km).
  • Pickup from homestays in Nam Dam, Quan Ba commune, Lung Tam and Can Ti is free.

Best time to fly Quan Ba

Autumn and early winter (October to December) bring dry air, clear views and the pink buckwheat flowers the region is famous for. Spring (February to April) has peach and plum blossom. In the rainy season (May to September) we fly in the morning and land before the afternoon thunderstorms. If the weather is not safe, you can reschedule or cancel for free.

Good to know

  • Open 7:00–18:00 every day from 15 October 2026
  • Wear closed shoes and bring a light jacket — it is cooler in the air
  • Pay in cash at the site or by bank transfer in advance
  • Book a day ahead so we can match your pickup to your loop schedule
