Paragliding isn't skydiving, launch takes a few steps, landing is a walk-off, and the weather has the final say — ten things worth knowing.
Paragliding is still fairly new to many people in Vietnam, and there is plenty about it that surprises first-timers. Here are ten things most guests only find out after their flight.

Paragliding is more than just an extreme sport; it is a journey to push your limits and witness the world from a completely new perspective. If you are looking for true freedom, let Mebayluon Paragliding be your companion in the sky!
🪂 1. Paragliding is NOT "Skydiving"
This is the most common misconception! Skydiving involves jumping out of an airplane and free-falling before deploying a parachute. In contrast, paragliding involves launching from a hillside. You simply take a few steps, and the wing inflates with air to lift you up gently. It is a true "flight" rather than a "fall."
Many people worry they have to "leap" off a cliff. In reality, you only need to coordinate with your pilot and run steadily down a gentle slope. Once the wing generates enough lift, you will feel your feet leave the ground naturally without needing any complex technical skills.
🛬 3. Landing is as soft as "taking a step"
At the end of the flight, the pilot maneuvers the paraglider into the headwind to reduce speed. You will land on your feet in a flat area at the base of the mountain. The sensation of touching down is as light as stepping down from a low stair.
🙋 4. No experience is required to fly immediately
Don't worry if you know nothing about paragliding. With our Tandem Flight service, you will be equipped with a secure harness and fly with a professional pilot. The pilot handles everything—from steering and wind management to technical maneuvers—so you can simply relax and enjoy the view.
🎓 5. Solo flying requires serious training
While flying with a pilot is easy, if you want to control the wing by yourself, you must enroll in a Formal Paragliding Course. Here, you will learn about meteorology, wing handling techniques, and pass safety certifications before being allowed to fly independently.
😌 6. It’s not as "scary" as you imagine
Many customers with a fear of heights are surprised that paragliding doesn't cause vertigo. Because you are sitting in a very secure harness and the movement is smooth, it feels more like sitting on a suspended sofa in mid-air than standing on the edge of a cliff.
🌤️ 7. Weather is the ultimate decision-maker
In paragliding, the pilot is not the final authority—weather conditions are. Wind speed, wind direction, and visibility are the key factors. At Mebayluon, we only take off when all conditions meet strict safety standards to ensure the best possible experience for our customers.
👨👩👧 8. A sport for all ages
Paragliding is not strictly limited by age. From children (with parental consent) to older adults, anyone can participate. As long as you are in stable health, feel comfortable mentally, and do not have serious heart conditions or major joint injuries, you are eligible to fly.
1️⃣ 9. One pilot – one passenger rule
To ensure safe weight limits and optimal control in all situations, tandem paragliding allows a maximum of two people per wing. This also enables the pilot to fully focus on supporting you individually, making each flight a highly personalized experience.
📸 10. High-quality photos and videos to take home
You don’t need to worry about holding your phone, as the entire journey is recorded using GoPro or specialized 360-degree cameras mounted on a long selfie stick. These aerial shots capturing mountains and valleys will become unforgettable memories you can share right after landing.
